I think I was one of the last ones imagining I could be back in Soddo, Ethiopia just in a year. But this is how it has gone. I’m here and this time on a whole different purpose. When we got out of the airport I already smelled a familiar smell and saw smiling faces and I greets the warm sun. I felt like in a paradise. But when we got to Soddo it went even better. Meeting old friends was heartwarming. Of course we have eaten here the local food, got to be a part of the coffee-ceremony and visited our good friends. Time has just flown by.
But what makes me even happier is the presence of friends. Our Estonian group is nice.
Today we also moved from our hotel to the house, in Ethiopia this is luxury. We spent one whole day to make ourselves feel at home and now one of the rooms is an office-dining-and-living room.
We sit here in candle and torch light, Joosep is playing the harmonica, evening stillness and coolness breezing in from the open door. Everything is nice.
Today we also went to see the school where we are planning to do a little bit of redecorating. Seems that all are full of positive energy and they want to give the maximum of themselves. We are overwhelmed by love, generosity and smiles. Children shout on the streets when they see us, if possible then they also want to greet us or just call us “farange”.
So far we have split all the differences and we hope we can give them back something good. It seems all of us are kind of in love with Ethiopia and the local people…well…at least I am.
But tomorrow we will have a serious day full of work-recording.
